So basically, Ice T said Soulja Boy sucks, and Soulja Boy came back with a long-winded video that basically called Ice T out of touch with the modern game. But more importantly, Soulja Boy noted that the last time he saw Ice T, he was acting in an episode of Law and Order. Soujla Boys said, “How you gonna make a song called ‘Fuck Tha Police,’ and then 20 years later, you’re playing the police on TV?”

Which sounded like a really good point, until about 10 seconds later, when I remembered that Ice T didn’t make a song called “Fuck Tha Police” — Ice Cube did (with NWA, of course).

I guess they’re both out of touch with the other’s generation. Via Rex.

True, but don’t forget “Cop Killer”, by Ice-T’s band Body Count.

In a 2007 interview, he had this to say about playing a cop on TV: “My opinion never changed about the police. I think people really read a lot into Cop Killer, more than it was really meant to be. It was a song. In a way it was an acting role too. It’s not necessarily the way I believed—it’s meant to be seen as the way the guy in the song believed it…. You know, cops are cops, some of them like me, some of them don’t. I really couldn’t care less.”

I too have laughed at Ice T’s foray into ‘acting’.

Thanks for the song title reference and the quote Nathan. It smacks of ‘cop-out’ by Ice T though.

The song was so inflammatory it was banned in some countries and only made it’s way to my neck ‘o the woods via ‘non traditional channels’.

Ice T’s comments are completely irresponsible. He wrote the song - a song which glorified not only gang violence but killing police and now wants to distance himself from it and claim it’s ‘not necessarily the way [he] believed’?

    Please.

If he gets away with this, he’s a way better actor in an interview than he is on the screen.
