As you may know, part of my job at Blue Flavor entails speaking at conferences, giving workshops, and so forth. This fall, I’ve got several events lined up, and I wanted to let you all know about them.
First, I’ll be giving a workshop on building Django apps on September 8th in London. I’m again working with Carsonified on this, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Having been to several of their events, I really believe no one out there runs web events more smoothly than Ryan and his team.
The workshop will be an introduction to Django and will focus on building custom content management systems, making use of Django’s automatic admin interface, generic views, and template language. It’ll be a full-day workshop, and there are seats for up to 40 attendees. If you’re interested, register now!
Next, I’ll be making my first trip down under for Web Directions South September 23rd-26th. On the 23rd, I’ll be leading a full-day workshop on Building a Custom CMS with Django, and on either the 24th or 25th, I’ll be giving an hour-long presentation on Elegant Web Typograpy. I’m really excited about this trip, and I’m hoping to bring my fiancee Michelle along with me for the ride.
In October, I’ll be hitting up Webmaster Jam Session again this year. It was possibly my favorite event last year, and this year it’s moved from the Big D to the ATL. I love Atlanta and haven’t been there in over 10 years, so I’m stoked. The dates for the event are October 3rd and 4th, and I’ll be giving a joint presentation with my esteemed Blue Flavor colleague D. Keith Robinson called Web Design and Development: Behind the Scenes. We’ll be going over a project from start to finish, covering our strategies, design ideas, and implementation processes. Should be a good one.
October 15th and 16th I’ll be in Orlando for The Web Design and Developers Conference. I’ll be giving my Elegant Web Typography presentation, as well as an Introduction to Django.
I hope to meet as many of you as possible at these events! .All four should be great, and you’d do well to register and attend any of them. As always, don’t be shy — if you want to chat, c’mon up to me and say hi. I’m always looking to meet new people, make new connections, and learn what other folks in our industry are passionate about.
Until then, enjoy your summer and I’ll see you in the Fall!

I’m glad we’ll have some overlap at Webmaster Jam Session. Will be good to hang out at catch up. Congrats on all the rest of the speaking gigs, too!
